Wake up Design event at Surrey University Business School

Specialist coaching programme, Innovate2Succeed (i2s), will team up with Surrey-based FdK Design Consultants to host Wake Up Design on Thursday 4th May 2017.

The all-day event will be held at the renowned Surrey University Business School in Guildford and will provide the backdrop for a series of inspiring presentations and interactive sessions exploring how businesses can harness design thinking as an integral and sophisticated
business resource.

Design thinking, which draws upon how designers think and solve problems, is an innovative and transformative process for all types of business and industry, created to encourage
experimentation and collaboration.

An in-depth exploration of ideas takes place before product or service launch to support fundamental market research, help propel organisations towards their objectives accurately, and save time and costs over the long-term.

Seven expert speakers will consolidate their knowledge and expertise on all aspects of design thinking including service design, experience design, product design, co-design and design funding to equip attendees with a comprehensive understanding of how businesses can transform, achieve their goals and outsmart the competition.

Following the success of i2s and FdK’s pilot Wake Up Design event, held on 17th November 2016, under the guidance of i2s’s parent organisation Oxford Innovation, the duo has partnered again to deliver the all-day conference with networking and project consultation opportunities.

“Design Thinking is a repeatable, human-centred process for creative problem-solving. It is organised into stages, tools and templates that can be applied to the development of any product (physical or digital) and service (commercial or social) that will deliver value to users,” said Lukasz Liebersbach, innovation advisor, i2s and Oxford Innovation Services.

“As consumer demands change and competition grows, companies need to find innovative ways to maximise the effectiveness and desirability of their services to succeed. The Wake Up Design event aims to inform and inspire businesses interested in using design thinking to
innovate successfully,” explained Simon de Kretser, Partner at FdK Design Consultants.
