Experienced in listening to the particular needs of SME business directors, Alastair uses the extensive EEN network to help connect companies in the South East UK to opportunities in 60+ countries. Also as part of the Innovate UK family helping companies with innovation management and business growth, often using Strategy on a Page to help clients manage their priorities and keep on track.
Prior to joining Oxford Innovation, Alastair was the director of a leadership development consultancy that worked with clients such as the MET, HSBC, The Workspace Group and LEAD International. His passion is taking leaders and teams into nature to learn from working together in a new context, and trying to translate the operating principles of the natural world back into the workplace. He also provides mentoring and nature awareness / wilderness skills experiences to adults and children in the Ashdown forest where he lives with his wife and 2 children.
His first role after graduating was in the start up team of the first co-working ‘Hub’ for social entrepreneurs in London. This provided him with the close up experience of the highs and lows of start-ups and how important leadership and a strong vision can be to success. From this first space there is now a global network of more than 90+ based on the success of the initial model.
Alastair has a BA in Anthropology and Geography from UCL London. He is also always investing in ongoing professional development and is one of 80 accredited Strategy on a Page practitioners. He has also trained in the Business Model Generation Canvas, 'Lean' strategy for start ups and innovation, ‘GTD’ Time Management, U Process training from MIT Boston and Transactional Analysis Training – TA101 from the Metanioa Institute, London
