Martin has worked in marketing for more than 20 years. He began his career in bookselling with Bertelsmann, work which won a Royal Mail/DMA award. He joined LEGO Software as Global Product Manager, looking after LEGO Racers 2 and the company’s first licensed game, LEGO Creator: Harry Potter.
Martin then managed partnerships for LEGO UK, working on collaborative projects with companies such as Disney, Walkers and Kimberly-Clark. Next, as Brand Manager for core LEGO products for Northern Europe, including LEGO Technic, he oversaw the relaunch of the LEGO motherbrand across nine territories.
At LEGOLAND Windsor, part of Merlin Entertainments, Martin developed partnerships with organisations including Coca-Cola, Fiat and Xbox and worked closely with Lucasfilm to introduce licensed events. As Sales & Marketing Director, he helped LEGOLAND Windsor set new global attendance records for a LEGOLAND park.
Martin moved to Cornwall to join the Eden Project as Sales and Marketing Director, where he helped it to develop its marketing, understand its audience and clarify its proposition. Since leaving Eden, he has worked as a freelance marketing strategy advisor with local and national clients including the Caravan Club, Skinner’s Brewery and a major Hollywood studio. He now focuses on delivering business coaching for Oxford Innovation.
Martin holds an MA in Marketing, guest lectures in higher education, is a Chartered Marketer and represents the tourism industry and Cornwall’s marketers on the CIM’s South West Regional Board.
